Stolen Vehicle Recovered 2 Arrested Following Foot Chase

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested two suspects in relation to an auto theft investigation.
On January 5, 2025, at approximately 4:00 am the HRPS received information from the O.P.P. regarding a stolen black Dodge Charger operating in tandem with two Jeep Grand Cherokees. A short time later, HRPS officers located the Charger and a single white Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling in tandem eastbound in the westbound lanes on Dundas Street near Ninth Line in Oakville.
Police followed the vehicles eastbound on Dundas and coordinated the successful deployment of a tire deflation device, taking out the front tires of the Jeep. The vehicle continued to flee but was eventually pinned by HRPS officers near Jaguar Valley Drive in Mississauga. The two occupants of the Jeep then fled their vehicle on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers managed to arrest both occupants of the white Jeep. Investigation by police determined the Jeep to be stolen out of Peel region.
Mark Llewelyn (22) of Toronto has been charged with the following:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
Possession of Automobile Master Key
Fail to Comply being on a Release Order
Officers also determined Llewelyn was released on bail for similar offences in York Region on January 1, 2025. Llewelyn was held in custody pending another bail hearing in court in Milton.
Kenzani Edwards (21) of Toronto has been charged with the following:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

Time and time again our officers, and the public we serve face the dangers of stolen autos and the criminals behind the wheel who will stop at nothing as they attempt to evade police, said HRPS Chief, Stephen Tanner. Again, in this case it involved the arrest of an individual released on bail four days earlier for similar offences. There needs to be meaningful deterrents to these highly profitable and extremely dangerous crimes. As long as the gains outweigh the risks, and organized groups continue to profit from this lucrative crime by shipping stolen vehicles out of the country through our large shipping ports, we should not expect it to stop. Steal a car, through a home invasion or otherwise, get arrested, get released, and repeat the cycle again. This is not simply a property crime with huge economic impacts on victims and on all Canadians. Every single stolen vehicle is a potentially deadly situation for front line officers and for our citizens. Its far past the time to cut off the ability to export stolen vehicles, and to hold these criminals accountable in meaningful ways.
